Record for rail freight at Genova Pra’
We have achieved another significant result for the Genova Pra’ terminal: in March the number of containers moved by rail reached the record number of 20.892 TEU.
The constant increase in rail freight is the result of investments made during recent years that have upgraded the terminal’s railway installation. Today, Genova Pra’ has eleven direct links to Italian cities – the latest being Pordenone – in addition to the Basel train, operated internally by Cargo Solutions.
The 514 trains that ran during March took railway freight movement to 18% of the terminal’s total of import and export volumes. Despite this being an optimum result, the objective is to reach 20% by the end of 2021.
Once again, PSA’s strategy at Genova is confirmed as being in the pursuit of sustainable development. In fact, the increase in rail freight reduces the emissions of harmful gases, reduces pressure on the Ligurian motorway network, and, at the same time, guarantees fast and punctual transport for our clients.
