As from March 1st, PSA Genova was officially introduced as Groupement Fer (GF) partner, providing the Swiss Association of Freight Forwarders with the only direct rail connection between the Port of Genoa and Basel (Frenkendorf).

This represents an important turning point for our product: after two years from its starting date, the ‘Mittelmeerzug’ has become a solid option for cargo owners in Switzerland to connect directly to the Mediterranean routes.

Compared to a routing via North Europe, it shortens up the maritime transit required to reach the Far East and Middle East destinations, significantly reducing CO2 emissions. The train allows for high-cube containers and dangerous cargo.

Closer to Customers: PSA established its own Commercial Representation in Switzerland (Basel) as from December 2020, aiming at an improved local support to current and potential customers.
