The Western Moorings Equipment is Complete
Halfway through the month of September the Western moorings of the Terminal quay were completely equipped. The 450 metre-area saw the completion of the excavation operations for the cable tray required for the quay crane cables as well as the installation of the new bollards, fenders and anti-hurricane barriers.
The barriers are only activated in extreme weather conditions, for example a hurricane. These barriers are dug into the quay and are equipped with pin sockets, which are attached to storm pins mounted on the crane by way of a tie-down, in order to guarantee the complete stability of the crane, even in extremely unfavourable weather. The bollards have been tested with the help of two 70-tonnes trailers in order to simulate the tension created by 14K TEU ship and beyond.
The Eastern side of the quay will send the completion of operations with the installation of the final five fenders and 22 additional bollards.
