PSA VENICE OPENS THE PORT TERMINAL TO SCHOOLS AND THE CITY COMMUNITY WITH 'Vecon Loves Safety'
The terminal promotes the culture of safety together with the port and city community, including 400 primary school children and over 300 people including workers, family members and stakeholders.
PSA Venice - Vecon proposes the fourth edition of "Vecon Loves Safety" and opens the terminal to the port community and the city of Venice, on the occasion of the World Day for Health and Safety at Work, which falls on 28 April every year, to celebrate together the results of the previous year, including 12 new hires, a record volume of over 337 thousand Teus, and investments for a total value of 78.6 million euros made by PSA Venice - Vecon, thanks to the renewal of the port concession.
On Friday 3rd May, 415 children between the ages of 8 and 10 from primary schools in the province of Venice are expected to visit the container terminal and the 60 exhibitors who are experts in safety and security, including the North Adriatic Sea Port Authority's Safety Office, the Venice Maritime Border Police Office with its canine units the Guardia di Finanza with canine units, the Harbour Master's Office Coast Guard, the Fire Brigade, a unit of the SUEM 118 First Aid Squad, the Customs Agency and its anti-counterfeiting department, with some tangible examples of counterfeiting, and other security and rescue experts.
Starting at 3:30 pm on the same day, over 360 guests are expected to attend the ceremony of “Vecon loves safety”, including terminal workers and their families, members of the port community and institutions; Roberto Marcato, councillor for Economic Development of the Veneto Region, Andrea Tomaello, deputy mayor of Venice, and President Fulvio Lino Di Blasio of the Northern Adriatic Sea Port Authority - which has always supported and promoted sensitive issues such as safety through concrete actions to support the port community - are expected to welcome the guest, with PSA Italy chairman Marco Conforti.
Numerous speeches will be given on the subject of safety at work, including those by Michele Viglianisi, vice-president of Confindustria Veneto EST, Paolo Rosi, director of the SUEM 118 Regional Operations Centre, Loris Munaro, interregional director for Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige of the Fire Brigade, and C.V. (CP) Marco Parascandolo of the Venice Coast Guard Harbour Office.
Among the appointments of the 'Vecon Loves Safety' day, there will be the theatrical performance 'A chi esita' ('To those who hesitate'), produced by the Rossolevante theatre company, which tells through a series of monologues the story of the victims, direct or indirect, of the lack of a solid safety culture, at work and in all other spheres of life.
